In the face of floods in Assam and the possibility of floods in more states as the monsoon rains advance, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday reviewed the levels of preparedness for prevention and control of vector borne diseases with 13 high burden states.

After weeks of floods hitting Assam and ahead of the monsoon season, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday reviewed the preparedness for the prevention and control of vector borne diseases with 13 high burden states through video conference.

State governments participating in the video conference included the state governments of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tripura, Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Tamil Nadu.

The health minister’s review meeting also came within hours of the meteorological department issuing a yellow alert for rain at Dehradun, Bageshwar and Nainital districts of Uttarakhand from Friday till July 10.
