Ranil Wickremesinghe, 76, was arrested on August 22, ushering in the highest-profile detention amid President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s sweeping anti-corruption campaign.

Sri Lanka’s police force is facing an unprecedented leadership crisis following the dismissal of its second-highest-ranking officer and the looming impeachment of its Inspector-General.
