A heavily armed group of militants launched a coordinated assault on a prominent mining operation in the Balochistan province, leaving at least 10 people dead, sources in Islamabad confirmed.
The attack, which unfolded on Wednesday morning, targeted a copper and gold mining site operated by the Pakistani company National Resources Private Limited (NRL). According to local officials and security personnel, the raid occurred in the remote Darigwan area of the Chagai district.
The Dead of Night Assault
Approximately 40 militants descended upon the National Resources Private Limited facility, according to government sources. Eyewitnesses and initial security reports indicate that the assailants arrived on a fleet of motorcycles and off-road vehicles, utilizing the cover of the remote landscape to bypass initial perimeter checkpoints. The attackers, equipped with automatic rifles and explosives, quickly breached the main encampment where workers and security personnel were stationed.
