Taking virtual testimony from farmers in Maharashtra and a district in Madhya Pradesh, the minister expressed serious concern at what he called a “mockery” of the insurance scheme designed to protect farmers from crop losses.

Chouhan stated that over the past 10 years, crop production has increased from 246.42 million tonnes to 353.96 million tonnes.

e-NAM enables farmers to directly sell their produce to buyers, by passing intermediaries, which ensures better pricing and increased transparency.
