Bilateral trade reached $129 billion in 2024, with India enjoying a surplus. US agricultural imports from India rose, but concerns persist over subsidised US products undercutting Indian farmers. Agriculture employs about 42 per cent of India’s population, making it politically explosive – as seen in the 2021 farm law protests.

India Post’s extensive infrastructure – including over 1.5 lakh rural post offices, the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), and nearly 2.4 lakh Gramin Dak Sevaks – will serve as the backbone for last-mile delivery of integrated services.

In his inaugural address, Chouhan said, “Mandia Dibasa is not merely a day of celebration, it represents a meaningful campaign to promote Shree Anna.

Chouhan stated that over the past 10 years, crop production has increased from 246.42 million tonnes to 353.96 million tonnes.

The minister has said that strict legal action, including cancellation of licenses and registration of FIRs, should be taken against the culprits, and effective prosecution must be ensured to secure conviction.

The ministry of agriculture and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will jointly implement the campaign with a broad coalition of stakeholders, including agricultural universities, state government departments, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and leading progressive farmers.
